We will be implementing a new leadership type system on the MUSH in the next week that will be very reminiscent to you old timers of the head system we had way back when the MUSH first went IC. What this means to you the player we hope is more chance of a leadership roll if that interests you, more job opportunities and we hope more RP opportunities. At the base of this system is the idea that each ship should have its own unique RP, after all each ship was created with an idea in mind. For example Galactica military, Nemesis security and Hades mafia. This does not mean, except for military, these are the only places these types of positions would be but that is where they would be focused. This also doesn't mean that these areas are strictly for those licenses. In the new system there will be one leader and their subleaders that are in charge of each ship, at the end of this mail I will post all the ships and which ones already possess leaders. These leaders will be in charge of hiring for their ship as well as providing RP opportunities on their ship and/or for their people on unleadered ships or on leadered ships in conjunction with that ship's leaders. In plain English, this means that say you wish to be a member of the Breyd's crew irregardless of license (except warrior or security) you would either go through the fleet computer (more on this later) or speak to one of the Breyd's leaders to be hired. The leader would then hire you for example as a bridge crew person and depending on the position set you as say Chief Navigator. You would then RP as part of the Breyd's crew but you could visit other ships for RP and who knows maybe attend a bridge officers conference held on the Galactica for example. While for RP reasons it is beneficial to be hired it is not a requirement, however if you wish to fully participate on a leadered ship it is recommended or there will always be unleadered ships to RP on. Now I've mentioned being hired so let me back track slightly. All new players will purchase a license which will influence the type of job they are hired for. Except for security and warriors, any position can be hired for on any ship and the same license will be valid for say a mil medtech or a civ one. So if you want to be a cook on the Galactica go for it:). As far as security goes, these will be hired by the Nemesis and can be placed on duty on other ships or if another ship does not want Council Security, such as Hades, they could hire a Detective or Bodyguard to fill the role. A warriors license can not be bought, it can only be earned, so if you wish to be a warrior someday you will need to be hired as a cadet and earn the right to become a warrior and join a squad. If you find yourself unhappy on the ship you are hired for you can RP getting fired and then get hired on another ship, just make it IC folks. This brings me back to the fleet computer. All open position numbers will be listed on the fleet computer (non-hiring one in the skills room) and a hiring one on the Hermes. For detailed descriptions of what the job is you will be able to check the jobs bboard (coming soon) or check +list-leaders and contact one of that ships leaders. If you are not currently hired, you will be able to +hire an open position from the computer. If there is not a position open on a ship you really want or you come up with a great idea not on the openings once again contact that ship's leaders. Leaders will be responsible for hiring, firing, handing out positions and ranks where applicable as well as hiring of other leaders for their ship in addition to providing RP. There will be several changes to the licenses such as one license for civ and mil, and we are looking into removing ranks persay for medtechs. Salik was never addressed as Capt but as Doctor for example. We hope to have this as well as several behind the scenes code issues resolved by Next Friday to go live with this system. The list of ships and their leaders are as follows: Galactica - Tigh Please note we do not plan or even hope to fill the leadership on all ships as some open RP grounds where anyone or the RPDs can set up RP are necessary. However if you are interested in one of these positions please contact the admin by +mail or email (bsm-admins@lib01.ferris.edu). |
